We were delighted to receive the news that Gilgal Church is open again. Our brothers and sisters are following strict health guidelines and met for their first service today after the church was closed due to the Covid pandemic.

Prayer Points
Give thanks for Josephine’s Self Help Group and the way they are working to support one another. Pray that their weekly meetings continue to be a source of blessing, and that their training sessions continue to inspire. Pray for those taking part in the Church and Community Transformation process, and those benefiting from the activities happening as a result of what they are doing. Pray they experience real transformation - a lasting change, that serves all, particularly the most vulnerable - the street children, street vendors and those who have been widowed. Pray for wisdom for AESD and Gilgal’s staff as they serve others. Pray for success and wisdom in the activities Gilgal Church have planned for 2020. Pray for the church in Rwanda, who can play a key part in bringing transformation. Pray that Gilgal’s Bible College is able to access all the resources they need to train pastors who still require theological training to meet the requirements of recent laws brought in to help protect congregations and communities. Prayer requests from our Gilgal brother and sisters:
All over the world, things have been shaken by the coronavirus pandemic. We are all affected by the lockdown and our work in solidarity with those in greatest need has had to stop or take a different shape in these unusual times. The Government of Rwanda has declared prevention measures to be rigorously observed “stay home” as of yesterday the number of coronavirus cases were 70. Most Rwandan people and Gilgal church members support their families by daily work income, but now they all have to stay at home. The Government has promised to provide food to those in critical need but this will not be sufficient. 126 families from Gilgal are being affected during this period, waiting for food support from any way. We have a group of people living with HIV/AIDS. This is a critical case, taking drugs without eating. We really need your prayer All blessings Jules Below is a link to download our summer 2019 update from Gilgal.

Pray that parents experience positive mindset change which reconciles families, and creates positive environments in which children are able to return to school and flourish. ● For widows (some of whom are genocide survivors), for their comfort and emotional support and the development of their families. ● For refugees. One of Gilgal’s local churches is located in a refugee camp for Congolese. Pray for their country’s peace. ● About disaster risks. Please pray for projects like these and for communities as they respond a such times. ● About unemployment. Especially for our youth, and for vocational training centres to help with the learning of practical skills and the creation of jobs. ● And please pray for peace and security to prevail in both our countries. During our morning service Dr Bunini brought greetings from Gilgal Evangelical Church. He also brought many gifts for the boys and girls - pictures and letters from the children in Gilgal; gifts for PW from the women; and a gift presented to our minister Rev Dr Frank Sellar for the whole church. Dr Bunini preached about forgiveness reminding us of the forgiveness we receive in Christ and the importance of forgiving one another. He shared a little about the genocide in Rwanda and the importance of forgiveness in the aftermath. We are thankful to Pelagie for joining us to help with translation. Our Children's slot song was 'Hosanna' which we learned from the boys and girls at Gilgal. |
